Anything you add at the bottom comes off the top.
You can't just flatten with EQ.
Additionally you alter the phase response.
Processing is a very complicated subject. You can fix a lot of design compromises with proper processing design.
If you are interested in going down this path I can research some texts that would be a good starting place.
I do want to warn you that you can destroy drivers with improper tuning. Sometimes before audible artifacts.
